While 3D crochet is often understood mainly as ‘amigurumi’ (stuffed plush toys), this 4-class course aims to equip you with knowledge to create 3D forms based off geometrical shapes, which are the basic building blocks to bigger projects. Rather than have everyone work off one pattern to create a set design, the classes aim to help students understand the science behind patterns and how they directly influence your sculpture.

As an artist, I place importance on understanding the skill so you can take control of your work. This course is for people who like getting into the workings of a craft, are interested in working from existing patterns, yet aim to crochet original designs in the long run. The goal after this course is for you to have the confidence to create the original shapes that exist in your mind and crochet independently.

• Those who have basic crochet knowledge (ch, sc, dc, slst, hdc, dc)
• Age 15 and above

AREAS COVERED
• How to read Japanese diagram symbols and patterns
• The science behind symmetrical geometrical shapes and how to apply them on patterns
• How to visualise final shapes from patterns and vice versa
• Designing original shapes and personal consultation on how to achieve them

FINAL PRODUCT
Crochet sculptures designed by yourself (quantity varies per individual)
