HAKO はこ

In this exhibition titled HAKO(はこ)held in Kotomath Hyogomachi in Takamatsu (Japan) from 24 March - 19 April 2026, 6 Singaporean creatives:

Chong Wah (graphic design / graffiti)
Wu Yanrong (painting)
Kelly Jin Mei (sculpture)
Siah (interactive)
Gravy Baby aka Carmen Chen (culinary)
Ken aka Unoverlyseasoned (drinks)

were invited to respond to the theme, “BOX”. Read the exhibition essay here.

The exhibition included a pop-up cafe serving coffee made from Singaporean roasteries, toast with home-made kaya jam, as well as a 3-day ticketed private dining experience bringing Peranakan cuisine to Takamatsu. By using nourishment as a common language between Singaporeans and Japanese, visitors were invited into a non-conventional gallery setting where they could experience Singaporean culture in a casual way, opening up conversations about the artworks being presented.
