Time is Money,
Time is Precious,
Time is a Luxury.

Does the value of an object lie in the time that is spent on it?
Or is value more than just a representation of time?

The deformed vases have been intentionally melted; this act of destroying the vessels upends the value of time spent in their creation, while also stripping them of functionality. Yet their irreproducibility also renders them rare. In doing so, the artist prompts a reconsideration of the value we accord to objects and time, asking: what if one owns nothing except more time than they could ever use?

Inside ‘Blue’ is a found vase. ‘Black’ envelopes a smaller, multi-coloured mini crochet vase inside that is only revealed when the outer surface melts away.

Each sculpture was crocheted to mimic the appearance of a ceramic vase. While crochet is thought to be ‘soft’, these pieces embrace hard lines and symmetrical forms, as if they have been thrown on the wheel. The matching doilies are similarly, symmetrical and 'perfect’. This work is an observation of the emotional journey of pursuing ‘perfection’ even while knowing it is going to be deliberately destroyed.
